Justa quick question: Just wondering how to figure out the money line for hockey for example if SJ is playing Det. and SJ is -150 how would I figure out what Det odds are. I need it because going back to last seasons archives and need to know how to figure out.

Also Doing some reasearch:
games decided by 1 goal
games decided by 2 goals

in comparison to:
Home Fav and money line
Away Favs and money line
Home Dogs and money line
Away Dogs and money line

Looking for some trends. This is the first time I am doing something like this and just wondering if anyone has any advice for me.

Thanks Jack

It depends a little bit on what book you're looking at, but the other side of that line would be between +120 and +140.

The important thing to realize is that the two numbers are always going to add up to be something negative, because that's where the book is making its money.

At pinnacle, you'd probably see +140, since they have 10 cent lines on most hockey games. Betcris might be +130, because they have 20 cent lines on them (I think).

The term "10 cents" comes from an even line being -105 on both sides, so that you're paying -5 on each side, or 10 cents. That 10 cents is calculated in relation to the total line, meaning that you divide the 10/100 to get a %10 vigorish. This comes into play when the lines get larger, so that a 10 cent line for -200 would be +180, not +190, because -20/200=%10.

You will still see books offering +140/-150, like pinnacle on the panther/hurricanes line right now. They keep it simple in this range by making it 10 cents different, but you are actually getting a better deal because of it (10/14.5=6.8 cent line)
